Award Level:
- $50,000 direct costs per year for maximum of one year.
- Up to $5,000 of the total award may be used for salary support of principal investigator or research personnel.
- Multiple awards may be issued per year.
Purpose:
- To support innovative and impactful research in the area of coronary artery disease.
Application Review Timeline:
- Applications are accepted annually during the application window: February 1 - March 31.
- Applications will be reviewed in April with award activation expected to be no later than June 1.
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicant must currently hold a full-time position as Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the College of Medicine, UNMC.
- Projects must be focused on coronary artery disease and may include basic, translational, and clinical-focused research.
- Applicant must be a CHVR member in good standing (see CHVR website and summarized below).
- Investigators may receive the award a single time.
Selection Process:
- Applications are screened for eligibility and fit by CHVR leadership and subsequently undergo peer review.
- Competitive applicants are those who have a solid track record of research productivity, well developed research proposal, and propose studies that will generate preliminary data to support a future extramural funding application.
Requirements for Awardees:
- Attend the center's meetings, seminars, review committees, retreats and related activities as appropriate.
- Present outcomes of the research funding at a CHVR event.
- Agree to maintain an updated CHVR membership profile in Piestar.
- Complete all surveys to track activities or funding, collaborative efforts with other members, mentoring, service-related, and community engagement activities.
