Award Level:
- Maximum amount of the award is $2,500.
Application Review Timeline:
- Applications are accepted anytime and are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Award Requirements:
- Funds can be used to pay fees charged at specified University of Nebraska Medical Center core facilities (see below for eligible cores).
- Funds will not be awarded directly to the applicant, but a cost center will be provided to the Financial Administrator designated by the applicant.
- Funds must be used within one year of award date.
- Awardees agree to acknowledge the Center for Heart and Vascular Research, Vascular Research Program Pump Priming Grant in any publications resulting from the use of these funds.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Student, staff, postdoctoral researcher, or faculty at UNMC, UNO, UNL, or UNK.
- Applicants may submit one application every two years. Subsequent applications must be a project that is distinct from the prior application.
- Projects must be focused on a topic related to vascular biology or disease.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to meet with the Director of the Vascular Research Program, Pooneh Bagher (pbagher@unmc.edu), to exchange ideas about their project and to discuss the application process before submitting.
- CHVR member in good standing (as defined on the CHVR website and summarized below):
- Actively participates in at least one focus group.
- Attend the center's meetings, seminars, review committees, retreats and related activities as appropriate. It is expected that members will attend a minimum of five events per year.
- List the center as an affiliation on all publications (manuscripts, reviews, book chapters), in oral/poster presentations, grant submissions and media announcements.
- Agree to maintain an updated CHVR membership profile and complete assigned surveys regarding funding and publications within Piestar.

Selection Process:
- Applications will be reviewed by a committee of external reviewers.
- Preference will be given to early career researchers, applicants collecting data for a grant application and/or publications, applicants demonstrating a need for the funds, and vascular-related projects.
