Award Level:

  • Maximum amount of the award is $20,000 and is renewable for a second year upon satisfactory productivity

Application Deadline:

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until annual funds dedicated to this award category are depleted.

Award Requirements:

  • Award funds may be used to purchase research supplies or pay for UNMC core facility fees. Funds may not be used for salary.
  • Funds will not be awarded directly to the applicant, but a cost center will be provided to the Financial Administrator designated by the applicant.
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Investigator is a clinical fellow, resident, or faculty member and clinical provider at Nebraska Medicine or Children's Nebraska.
  • Applicants may submit one application per year. 
  • Projects must be focused on a topic within the scope of the Center for Heart and Vascular Research.
  • CHVR member in good standing (as defined on the CHVR website and summarized below):
    • Actively participates in at least one focus group. 
    • Attend the center's meetings, seminars, review committees, retreats and related activities as appropriate. It is expected that members will attend a minimum of five events per year. 
    • List the center as an affiliation on all publications (manuscripts, reviews, book chapters), in oral/poster presentations, grant submissions and media announcements.
    • Agree to maintain an updated CHVR membership profile and complete assigned surveys regarding funding and publications within Piestar.

Application Process:

  • Complete the application form. 
  • In the application, the Provider must identify a basic or translational researcher to partner with for the project. If the provider has not yet identified a suitable research collaborator, the operations committee will work with the applicant to identify a suitable collaborator or team of collaborators.
  • CHVR Operations Committee will review for feasibility and fit.
  • Once appropriate collaborators have been identified, the provider will be invited to submit a Provider Pitch Grant Application for final approval.
